Sending it out to the ether

So - I'm feeling overwhelmed. Thought I'd just send out to the ether my ideas.

I'd like to organize my yarn...
I'd like to replace the broken window in my office (went to Home Depot and scheduled a measuring yesterday)
I'd like to put in a new COOL front door to my business

I'd like to set up for Yarn Expo III in Anchorage... and have a killer display

I'll drop the

I'd like:

to go hang out with my Mom and just be
to fix the bathtub... I love baths but have been showering for most of the past year...
to fix the three holes in the ceiling where the recessed lighting used to be

to get a roommate... yeah - the rising cost of fuel means another person to share the rent would be good!

Wish List for Summer

Okay - TOURISTS...

I really wish I had more tourist traffic... I think that means I have to get on the ball and figure out how to make that happen!

Let the local hotels know when I'm open and see if they want to bring over a bus... ???

Other than that
I need 'weed and feed' for the dandelions... hee hee... I have a beautiful boquet of YELLOW in my back yard.

Other than that
Hmmm.... it's hard to say - life is good.

If my secret stitcher is reading this: hershey's special dark (regular size) chocolate bar, plain m-n-ms, chenille yarn from Susan's shop... just about any color...but if there is a chocolate brown... =)

What else
Oh... gas gift card =) why not?

Fresh flowers. I could do with some.

Thanks for reading!

Many Thanks to Secret Stitcher

I've got this arena to tell my secret stitcher - I appreciate you! Of course, I'll need to tell Mikki to tell her husband to pass on the info and the link...

Just to be sure you hear that I really have

Loved the Rush cds! Enjoyed the hershey's kisses tremendously... been able to smile and reuse some of your packaging for others that needed a little pick me up (so much prettier than a plastic bag!)

I've also truly enjoyed the idea that someone out there is thinking of me and wondering - 'does she like this?' 'Will this make her smile?'

Oh yes. And MANY, many thanks to you!

---- in case you're wondering if there is anything else she's interested in... ---
Here's the short list that's just for you (I'm not telling anyone else, except the rest of the world via this post - but they won't buy stuff for me anyhow...)
  • gummies from the Country Kitchen
  • a new cross-stitch magazine
  • thin ribbons to go in my bible to hold my place
  • little charms or small buttons to sew onto a stitched pin cushion
  • hand-dyed ribbon from Susan's (LOVE this ribbon)
  • most of all ... I love pottery... and a beautiful simple cream or tan colored bowl from the Food Bank would be most appreciated - donate whatever you'd spend on two months worth of gifts... and give me the bowl =) That way I get the bowl and know that someone else got something in theirs...

You've got to know that opening your gifts is a real warm moment for me each month. Thank you for your kindness!

Loving recipient,

Janene

North Star Needlework Guild

Secret Stitchers!

Ahhhh got a great message from Gary. So here are specific items that are on my list (the ever changing list)
  • toblerone - the dark kind - this is a candy, but please in moderation
  • m n m's - PLAIN also in moderation...
  • beads for cross stitch - or trinkets/tokens to sew into a miniature cross stitch pillow form, etc.
  • 3m post it notes - not kidding... I'm a wee bit of an addict (of course that makes using my regular calendar tricky from time to time.) 'I wrote that down, now where did I put it?'
  • creative thumb tacks - pretty ones like pewter looking flowers, and tea bags/tea pots or the like - I put together a bulletin board in the Shop and in my office and I just love the look of little things like this... it's that little touch that means sooo much
  • still love Rush - the music band ... and still would love just about anything of theirs on cd - I only have some very old tapes (somewhere)
  • Fresh fruit is ALWAYS appreciated
  • Firefly - NOT the movie - the complete season... only this might be a good September choice or you could buy it and put the peices parts in separate months =) [okay, I'm frugal... would you have guessed?]
  • The Real Thing cd by Bo Bice - he shoulda won the last season of American Idol
  • I'll go and look for some stitching patterns, but really what might be MUCH better is magazine holders... for organizing my stash of knitting, crochet, stitching magazines - I like the new 'jelly looking frosted' plastic ones

p.s. I also updated messages below in red with today's date

By the way - I think being involved in this way is SO MUCH fun... and isn't it crazy to try to figure out what someone likes??

January's Ideas

Well now, I'm not a big fan of the "New Year's Resolution" especially as I never seem to keep mine... what does that say?

I would like to share tho that I wish to
  • exercise more
  • eat better
  • weigh less - although look slimmer will work too
  • have more time to knit
  • make vacation plans
  • spend more time with friends

On a less expansive note

  • weatherstrip my garage
  • fill the windows no one looks out of with styrofoam - for non Alaskan viewers... well heating costs are HIGH - got some blue styrofoam board 1/18
  • finish up the bathroom in the shop... I think everyone would like that

Since I moved into the SHOP arena

  • do the data entry
  • hire another person
  • catch up on filing - about half done - working on this more today! 1/18
  • finish putting out all of the stock that's in the office
  • make a few new signs - made A LOT of new signs - still more to do 1/18

Oop VACUUM - this really sounded like I don't vacuum... well, mostly I don't - but Tonia has done it twice since this message 1/18

yes, simple but necessary!

More for the Shop

I need more mud for the bathroom. I got it sanded yesterday and a new coat applied. I'm out now... I got all the hardware down (except for the light) and most of the plastic tub surround off from behind the faucet but I still need to work on that part. - got more mud

I got the OIL HEATING BILL yesterday and wow... so now I know I need to put up more heat barrier plastic stuff in the windows... and maybe some styrofoam stuff in a few of the windows that people don't look out of... that and there must be a way to insulate the garage a bit better... hmmmm

What else for the shop - OH I NEED another employee... Yup, Jill is leaving after this week - off to OKLAHOMA so I need to hire someone new!

Shop Wishes

Shop Wishes and Sleepful Night Dreams

Oh yeah - never had caviar and champagne gives me a headache, but I do know that I'd like to finish a few things around the shop and also get more sleep.

Here's the list of December and January wishes for the shop:
  • Finish the customer bathroom
  • Buy or Find a neon "Open" sign
  • Paint the missing part of the ceiling
  • Put up more slatwall - I already have it...
  • Redecorate the classroom {of course - this should be every 6 weeks or so}

I'm sure there are other things... I'll add more later.

On a personal note

Okay - I'm making a new blog just for my wishes... I plan on putting in a variety of wishes. This is not just a Christmas wish list {how shallow would that be?} No, this is a wishlist for all types of things - so it is still shallow - but deeper or broader depending upon how you look on it.

Namely, I'm providing an avenue for a few folks that have asked questions like:

  • What would you like for Christmas
  • What do you wish for your store
  • What's going on in your love life - yup, lots of people have asked, so I figure I'll give updates online

No matter how big, no matter how small, there are wishes {and prayers} for them all.

Janene
